One of the main constraint for documenting accessions in field collections is the characterization Data capture. The main media used in field is the paper. Once the paper is filled it is neccessary to enter Data into computer with a risk of typo error. We, at Bioveristy, think that with the prices of mobile device dropping down to 100 USD, the capabilities of these devices for capturing photos and GPS chi^set it make sense to develop an application dedicated to the capture of characterization Data observed in the field. By computerizing this activity we lower the barrier for documenting accessions and by avoiding repetitive action we free time for partners.

In 2014, Bioversity International started the development of a mobile device application. We will keep you informed about the release of this mobile version of MGIS.
